Tapped-In. Ground. Say Hello. Say Thank You. — The HYGIENE That Reclaimed My Life.
By Temple Franklin — Mind Body Spirit Hygiene Tools
The pillow hears my screams and wipes my tears. I am overwhelmed. And someone always needs something from me. How do I get back home to myself again? What does that even look like anymore? That was the morning I stopped looking outside myself for the answer. That was the morning I started noticing — really noticing — when I was Tapped-In, and when I was not. I wanted to see the impact for myself. I wanted to know what was real. The impact surprised me.

Send Me the CalendarWhen I started my day in gratitude, my life became mine again
When I started my day in gratitude, in calm, in honoring myself — reminding myself of my Personal Code of Conduct, of how I wanted to show up in the world — my life became intentional. Authentic. Mine. When I was shut down, I found myself seeking external answers. Resentful when things didn't go as planned. (And I say that knowing full well I have free will. I am not a victim.) And on the days I was 'off' — I still learned. I would say: 'Temple, sillybean' — or 'Babe' (really, I do speak to myself like this) — 'time to do your Mind Body Spirit HYGIENE check-in.' What I mean is this comes from within. It is that calm stillness of knowing. And I have a whole tribe — what I call my Divine Team — guiding me, showing me signs. Combined with the practicality of my Personal Code of Conduct, I live intentionally and make choices for myself that authentically align — instead of leaning on others' answers, directions, or opinions. So I made the very conscious choice that I would remain in a state of Tapped-In — so I could hear, and feel, what is for my highest good. A YES or a NO can be nerve-racking. Scary, even. And still — I surrender to my highest good, and I honor it.
The Name: Tapped-In
I call it Tapped-In. Tapped-In is a HYGIENE. Like brushing your teeth. You don't have to earn it. You don't have to be good enough for it. It takes 60 seconds. You can do it with your eyes closed or your eyes open, walking or lying down, in the shower or in the grocery store parking lot with tears on your face. It's how I come home to myself before the world comes for me.
The 5-Step Practice (60 Seconds)
1. TAP IN. Put a hand on your chest. Or your belly. Somewhere that says: I'm here. Notice your body is breathing without your permission — already whole, already there to guide you. 2. GROUND. Feel your feet — even through your socks, even through the floor, even through the earth that holds the house that holds you. Many times I have taught women to go outside (weather permitting, safety permitting) and walk backward — because walking backward is intentional, not a habit. Feel all of the earth. Sync your heartbeats. 3. SAY HELLO — connection to yourself and to the unseen. Out loud or inside. Doesn't matter. 'Good morning, loves. Divine Team. Angels, guides, Ancestors. I see and recognize whoever walks with me. I know you're here.' If 'Divine Team' isn't your word, use yours. Or use nothing — the invitation here is in the connecting. In the gratitude. The awareness. The loving, appreciative greeting. This is a deeply personal choice. Make it your own. 4. SAY THANK YOU. 'Thank you for guiding me. Thank you for supporting me. Thank you for showing me signs in life and in nature. Thank you for protecting me — and all those I love. Thank you for building with me.' I thank them for the perfect parking spots. I thank them for reminding me to grab something I would have forgotten before I left the house. I thank Mother Gaia for the food, the plants, the colors. 5. RETURN — your new HYGIENE. Not only in the morning. Throughout the day. In line at the pharmacy. On a walk. Laying down at night. Make it consistent. You don't graduate from Tapped-In. You live inside it. Intentional living, authentic to you.
Imperfectly Perfect (The Pattern Break)
Here's the part you rarely hear about this kind of practice: 'Imperfectly Perfect.' Totally normal if you do not 'feel' anything the first week. Or the second. It is in the consistency — and without judgment. Be sure to foster the CC's in life — Compassionate Curiosity, for self and for others. Maybe you will do it faithfully and feel absolutely nothing and decide it isn't working and want to quit. Do not shut down. Do not quit. Think of it like building a muscle. You are also creating a new neural pathway — it will feel different, because it should.
The Practice — 5 Swaps to Make It Yours
Here's how to make this yours. • Swap the screen for connection to the self. Before your phone, place your hand on your chest, your heart, and say hello. Foster the connection. Create a saying that works for you. Every single morning. Non-negotiable HYGIENE. Be the first voice in the AM — for your mind, body, and soul. This self-love and self-care sets up for an intentional day. • Swap 'I should' for 'I GET TO.' Saying hello to your inner knowing — to your Divine Team — isn't an obligation. It's a privilege. I GET TO talk to my ancestors. I GET TO be held. I GET TO be home. • Swap 'doing it right' for 'doing it daily.' There is no perfect Tapped-In. There are only the ones you actively, intentionally do. • Swap silence for sound, if your mind needs it. Some mornings I whisper. Some mornings I sing. Some mornings I cry the thank-yous and they still count. • Swap the hurry for the return. When you forget — and you will — don't punish yourself. Just tap in again. The door is always open. You GET TO walk through it. You have free will.
The Yes. No. Wait. Cards
So I made you a free Yes. No. Wait. deck — pocket-sized, printable, designed for the moments when you cannot hear clearly. Or do what I did: grab a deck of cards and make your own. It is important to connect to the cards. To self. To your inner guidance. To the energy of your highest good. Have a conversation. Bless them with the purest intention: all is for my highest good. Hold them over your heart. Ask. Listen. Surrender to your highest good. Trust. Disclaimer: Seek medical advice where needed. You have free will, and none of these tools should be used in place of medical professionals. This is your life. Your choice — to be intentional and accountable. Not the victim.
The Benediction
Dear one. You have been leaving yourself before you knew you had a self to leave. That is over now. That is done. Not because someone is coming to save you. Someone already did the work — and she lives within you. She has your hand on her heart. She is already whispering the thank-yous. The 'I love yous.' You are not being saved. You are reclaiming. That is so powerful. There is a porch light on inside you. There is a candle in the window of your own soul. I GET TO Tap In. Ground. Say hello — connection. Say thank you. And every time I forget, I simply, profoundly, come home again. This is the premise of creating and fostering Mind Body Spirit HYGIENE™. Welcome home.
