AI Adventures for Kids — Level 3

Creating with AI

5 Steps to Becoming an AI Creator

For Ages 5-13 | Parent + Child Learning

Welcome, AI Creator! You've learned what AI is (Level 1) and how to use it safely (Level 2). Now it's time for the REALLY fun part — creating incredible things with AI! Remember: AI is your paintbrush — YOU are the artist!

Step 1 of 5

AI Art Studio (Making Pictures with Words!)

AI can create images from your descriptions! You type words, and AI paints a picture. It's like having a magical artist who can draw anything you imagine.

How it works:

You write a description (called an "image prompt"). AI generates an image based on your words. The more detailed your description, the better the result!

The Image Prompt Recipe:

[Subject] + [Style] + [Colors] + [Mood] + [Details] Example: "A friendly purple dragon reading a book in a cozy library, cartoon style, warm lighting, surrounded by stacks of colorful books"

Activities by Age:

Ages 5-7Dream Drawing!

Describe your dream pet to your parent. What animal? What color? What is it doing? Where is it? Parent helps type the prompt. Does the AI art look like what you imagined? Now draw YOUR version next to it and compare!

Write or draw your answer here:

Ages 8-10AI Art Challenge

Create 3 AI images: 1) A fantasy creature — "A [adjective] [animal] with [cool feature] in [setting], colorful kids illustration style" 2) Your dream room — "A bedroom for a kid who loves [your hobby]" 3) A book cover — "A cover for a kids' book called [make up a title]" Rate each result 1-5 stars!

Write or draw your answer here:

Ages 11-13Style Explorer

Create the SAME image in 4 different styles: "A cat sitting on the moon" — Realistic, Cartoon, Watercolor, Pixel art. Which style was your favorite? What changed when you changed the style words?

Write or draw your answer here:

Parent Note: Free AI image generators like Bing Image Creator (with Microsoft account) are kid-friendly options. Always supervise image generation sessions. Discuss why some images look strange — AI isn't perfect at faces, hands, or text in images.

Step 2 of 5

AI Story Workshop (Collaborative Storytelling)

AI can help you write amazing stories — but the BEST stories happen when YOU and AI work together. You bring the imagination; AI helps with the words. Remember the Creator's Rule: AI is your paintbrush — YOU are the artist!

The Collaboration Method:

1. YOU come up with the idea (the spark!) 2. AI helps you expand it (the fuel!) 3. YOU edit and add your personal touch (the magic!) 4. AI helps you polish it (the shine!) 5. YOU make the final creative decisions (the power!)

Activities by Age:

Ages 5-7Silly Story Maker

Fill in these blanks: - My character: a _________ named _________ - Their problem: they lost their _________ - Where it happens: in a magical _________ - Something funny: _________ - How it ends: _________ Parent asks AI to write the story using YOUR words. Was it funny? What would YOU change?

Write or draw your answer here:

Ages 8-10Chapter Book Planner

You're planning a 5-chapter book! You make the big decisions: - Book Title: _________ - Main Character: _________ - The Problem: _________ Ask AI for a 5-chapter outline. Then write Chapter 1 yourself! AI planned it, but YOU write it. That's collaboration!

Write or draw your answer here:

Ages 11-13Genre Mashup

Pick 2 genres that don't normally go together (horror + comedy, sci-fi + romance, mystery + fantasy). Ask AI to write the opening paragraph combining both genres. Read it. Now rewrite it in YOUR voice. What did you change? Why? Your version has something AI's doesn't — YOUR perspective.

Write or draw your answer here:

Parent Note: This teaches kids that AI is a brainstorming partner, not a ghostwriter. Ask your child: "What did YOU add to this story that AI couldn't?" The answer is always: feelings, experiences, and a unique point of view.

Step 3 of 5

AI Music & Sound Lab

AI can help you create music, sound effects, and write song lyrics! You don't need any instruments or musical training — just your imagination and your voice.

What you can do:

Write song lyrics with AI's help. Create rhyming poems and raps. Discover new music based on what you already love. Experiment with sounds using free tools like Chrome Music Lab.

Activities by Age:

Ages 5-7Song Writer!

What's your favorite thing in the whole world? _________ Ask AI (with parent): "Write a simple, fun, rhyming song about [favorite thing] for a little kid to sing. Make it 4 lines long." Now SING IT! Make up your own tune! You just wrote a song!

Write or draw your answer here:

Ages 8-10Rap Battle (Kid-Friendly!)

Ask AI: "Write a clean, kid-friendly 8-line rap about why reading books is cool. Use simple rhymes." Read AI's rap out loud. Now write YOUR OWN 4-line rap response! Which rap was better — yours or AI's? (Hint: yours has more heart!)

Write or draw your answer here:

Ages 11-13Playlist Curator + Music Discovery

Ask AI: "I like [your favorite song/artist]. Suggest 10 songs I might also like and explain why." Listen to at least 3 suggestions. Rate them: Did AI understand your taste? How many did it get right? What does this teach you about how AI recommendations work on Spotify and Apple Music?

Write or draw your answer here:

Parent Note: Chrome Music Lab (musiclab.chromeexperiments.com) is a free, safe tool by Google for kids to experiment with sound. No account needed. Great for younger kids who want hands-on music creation.

Step 4 of 5

AI Problem Solver (Using AI for Good!)

AI isn't just for fun — it can help solve real problems! The best AI creators use technology to make the world BETTER. In this step, you'll think like an inventor and use AI to help people.

Real ways kids are using AI for good:

A 12-year-old used AI to help identify types of plastic for recycling. Students used AI to translate homework help into other languages for classmates. A teen created an AI tool to help elderly neighbors remember their medications. You could be next!

Activities by Age:

Ages 5-7Helper Robot!

If you could build a robot helper, what would it do? - Help with: _________ - It would look like: _________ - Its name would be: _________ Draw your helper robot! Maybe someday someone will build it for real!

Write or draw your answer here:

Ages 8-10Inventor Challenge

Think of a problem in your school or neighborhood: _________ Ask AI: "I'm a kid and I want to solve this problem: [your problem]. Give me 5 creative ideas that a kid could actually do." Which idea is YOUR favorite? What would you add to make it even better? Could you actually try it this week?

Write or draw your answer here:

Ages 11-13Social Good Project

Design an AI tool that helps people: - My AI tool name: _________ - Problem it solves: _________ - Who it helps: _________ - How it works: _________ - What data would it need? _________ - How would you make sure it's fair to everyone? _________ Now ask AI to poke holes in your idea. What problems did it find? How would you solve them?

Write or draw your answer here:

Parent Note: This step teaches computational thinking and ethical design — skills becoming essential in every career. Encourage your child to think about who benefits AND who might be harmed by any technology. This builds empathy alongside tech skills.

Step 5 of 5

Your AI Creator Portfolio (Show What You Made!)

Real creators share their work! In this final step, you'll put together a portfolio of everything you created across all 3 levels. This is YOUR collection of AI adventures — and it proves what you've learned!

Why a portfolio matters:

It shows how much you've learned and grown. You can share it with family, friends, and teachers. It reminds you that YOU are a creator — not just a consumer. It's something to be genuinely proud of!

Activities by Age:

Ages 5-7My AI Scrapbook

Collect ALL your drawings, stories, and activities from Levels 1, 2, and 3. Tape or glue your favorites onto paper. Decorate the cover! My Scrapbook Title: _________ Show it to someone you love!

Write or draw your answer here:

Ages 8-10Creator Showcase

Pick your TOP 3 creations from all 3 levels: Creation 1: _________ Why I'm proud: _________ Creation 2: _________ Why I'm proud: _________ Creation 3: _________ Why I'm proud: _________ Present your showcase to your family! Practice speaking about your work — that's a life skill!

Write or draw your answer here:

Ages 11-13Digital Portfolio + Reflection

Create a document with your best work. Include: 1. Your best AI art + the prompt you used 2. Your best story or poem 3. Your social good project idea 4. A written reflection: - What surprised me most about AI? _________ - What's the most important thing I learned? _________ - How will I use AI responsibly going forward? _________ - What do I want to create with AI next? _________

Write or draw your answer here:

Parent Note: CELEBRATE this achievement! Your child just completed a comprehensive AI education program. Consider sharing their portfolio with family, teachers, or on your social media (with appropriate privacy). This is genuinely impressive.
